Friday Night Magic

Welcome fans of Magic: the Gathering to another exciting, harrowing adventure of Friday Night Magic! Yays!

The first match pitted our resident player with Daniel! Daniel was damn ‘sian-diao’ to go up against Terence again because of how the last few encounters ended (with Ter emerging victorious).

Anyways, this was a close match! With Ter taking the first round and Daniel taking the second. Daniel was ‘prepared’ for Boros decks and had inserted Circle of Protection: Red into his deck. Unfortunately lady luck decided to screw him over and he didn’t manage to draw the card! Daniel eventually had to bow to the prowess of Glorious Anthem conceding yet another match to Terence.

Next up was a Mirror Match! (A Mirror Match is a match where opponents with the same type of deck face-off against each other.) Terence was up against QingYong another Boros Deck Wins player. So how would our resident champ fair against an opponent much like himself? He destroys the imposter of course! QingYong was no match for the combined prowess of Boros Guildmage and Glorious Anthem. (Sorry man, even knowing ‘Qing Gong’ can’t save you from these two ladies of pain.)

The third match was a classic Boros VS Glare match up. With Ter going up against our shellfish friend Sebastian! This was the closest match ever fought. Ter mulligan in the first round but still lost to Sebastian’s Yosei, the Morning Star and Kodama of the North Tree. The second round lasted for 20 mins! 20 bloody minutes man! Ter manage to pull an upset victory using Leonin Skyhunter and Hokori, Dust Drinker.

The score is tied at 1 a piece and by now both players are sweating profusely. Ter was sweating so much he could have died of dehydration. After lots of praying Ter drew a God Hand! He managed to summon creatures every turn and as usual, our resident lay of pain Glorious Anthem. And let’s not forget the ‘Fork of Doom’ - Umezawa’s Jitte. Against such flurry of attacks and on the receiving end of a land jam, Sebastian fell quickly. Phew!

So it’s off to the finals for Ter and his opponent? None other than Kung-Fu master QingYong! QingYong was determined to get his revenge! *Oooh! So classic Kung-Fu movie-ish. Brings out popcorn*

Drawing on his new found prowess after returning from the land of the dead, QingYong causes Ter to suffer a horrible land jam taking the first round. Ter manages to claim the second match with Skyhunter and Glorious Anthem, but unfortunately fell to the dark arts of QingYong in the final round.

In the end, Ter finished third based on points and was given 2 booster packs, a Dark Confidant and a Privileged Position. Tune in next Friday, same monitor, same web-space for another FNM update!
